100% Organic and Biodynamic certified Gruner Veltliner
Fresh pear leads the nose while celery leaf and umami shine through. The palate has a creamy softness with earthy hints of hay and yellow apple that lead to a zesty white-pepper finish.
Grapes were hand harvested from estate-grown vines planted by Ari Cipes in 2011 at BC’s only certified Biodynamic vineyard.
Grapes were destemmed and soaked in the press for 12 hours. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel without temperature control. Based on Biodynamic principles, this wine was naturally fermented with ambient farm yeasts, truly reflecting the vintage and terroir of the Demeter certified Summerhill Vineyard in 2019.
Food Pairing Notes
A juicy, aromatic white for richly flavoured foods. Try with complex fare such as miso glazed sablefish, or something as simple as sour cream and onion potato chips!
"The Gruner Veltliner 2015 is the inaugural release, and it may well be the best I have tried outside Austria. It’s floral, aromatic, peppery and rich with a detailed spiciness. " - Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com
