Made entirely from certified organic Syrah grapes grown lovingly at Ron Firman's Spadefoot Toad Vineyard in Oliver, BC. Ron tends his small vineyard like a garden, carefully applying compost to each individual vine and breeding spade foot toads in his irrigation channels for natural pest control.
The 2014 Spadefoot Toad Syrah displays deliciously ripe aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and cherry kirsch which mingle with alluring notes of vanilla, sweet tobacco, leather and clove. On the palate, delight in flavours of black cherry, boysenberry, white pepper and a hint of black olive. The wine was raised in mostly neutral barriques for 35 months resulting in refined, well-integrated oak. Tannins are firm but round, acidity is bright and palate cleansing, and finish is long.
Unfined and unfiltered, this natural wine may drop sediment or wine crystals. Decanting recommended.
